NorSea Denmark A/S,

BILLION-KRONER CONTRACT: NorSea has won the important base contract in Esbjerg and will service Total for the next 10 years.

For the next 10 years, NorSea will be the offshore base provider for Total’s oil and gas activities in the Danish sector of the North Sea.

Total and NorSea will thus be extending and expanding a mutually stimulating, safe and efficient cooperation dating back to 1974.

“Long-term contracts are the precondition for establishing a mutual partnership that provides the value and efficiency we want,” says Rasmus Rozentals, Head of Logistics & Support to Operations, Total E&P Denmark:

“In NorSea, we’ve chosen a well-established, solid player that is also innovative and forward-looking. We want an adaptable partner so we can be sure this continues to be the right match in the future,” he says.

An expanded partnership
The contract has a total value of DKK 1 billion over 10 years, making it the largest contract in NorSea Denmark’s history. NorSea CEO Jesper Høj-Hansen is delighted to have secured regular work at NorSea’s base in Esbjerg for many years to come:

“We’re really looking forward to continuing and expanding a strong partnership. We will take on the task with humility and dedication,” says Jesper Høj-Hansen.

He identifies NorSea’s safety culture and implementation of lean and digitisation as key factors in securing the contract:

“Our one-stop-shop concept has helped optimise the value chain across the industry in a more efficient, simple and safe direction. We’ll continue to build on that now as we assume responsibility for a greater part of Total’s base operation,” says Jesper Høj-Hansen.

The new contract will bring additional dimensions and tasks to the cooperation. Currently, NorSea provides base functions such as stevedoring, transportation and logistics, customs clearance, handling and distribution. Under the new contract, NorSea will also be tasked with supporting Total with additional storage facilities, waste management and digital solutions.

Trusted supplier
The new contract thus concentrates more tasks with the same supplier:

“Our core business is to find and produce oil and gas in the Danish North Sea. We work with suppliers who we can trust and who can support us in that mission with their specific expertise,” says Rasmus Rozentals.

That trust has built up over decades of collaboration in which Maersk Oil and Danbor, both of which were part of A.P. Møller-Maersk, collaborated in the Port of Esbjerg.

"Today, the companies no longer share the same owner, but the trust remains intact:

“It’s important for us to have a supplier who is able to take on more of the value chain so we can simplify our operations,” says Total’s man at the base, Head of Supply Base and Lifting Gert Møller Nielsen:

“NorSea has shown they are able to handle more of our tasks, including special tasks, safely and efficiently,” he says.
