SH Group expands business areas to the offshore wind segment

SH Group expands business areas to the offshore wind segment by using their already existing knowledge and competencies within their 20 years of operating in the oil and gas industry to seek new challenges and gain further market share. 

SVENDBORG – The oil crisis in 2015 triggered SH Group to grab the opportunity to expand business areas to the offshore wind segment by using their knowledge and competencies gained from 20 years of experience within their main business area. The company wanted to seek new challenges and showcase their ability to adapt and perform by designing and manufacturing high-quality tailor-made solutions of handling- and transport equipment used when handling windmills during transportation, installation, service and lifting the different components – offshore.

Spreading their activities to the offshore wind segment has provided SH Group with the opportunity to convey their already acquired knowledge and competencies such as always delivering on time, offering 24/7 support, service and maintenance worldwide which provides the customers with a particular security. From manufacturing products within the oil and gas industry, SH Group is experienced in 3rd party approval (DNV/GL) when designing and manufacturing tailor-made solutions. These skills and experiences are highly unique in this business and provide the company with certain credibility and seriousness as a qualified offshore wind supplier.

SH Group separates itself by having an in-house production which means that they can carry out the process from idea to finished product in one place making it cost efficient for the customers. Everything from design, production, assembly, and testing are all carried out in Denmark to ensure optimum control of quality and functionality for each delivery. At SH Group they have the human resources of many different types of employees to manage and ensure that every order is of high-quality and that response time is rapid which benefits both the customer and company.

SH Group wants to pinpoint that they take pride in working in the offshore wind segment and being a company of a specific size also indicates that they are and want to be a firm supplier in the business offering the best possible individual solutions for their customers, among customers are MHI Vestas and Siemens Gamesa.

Expanding into the offshore wind segment means new opportunities for the company, not only in Denmark but overseas as well, including Taiwan. SH Group is currently present in China but wants to expand further on the Asian market and the Far East. The company intends to create a fundamental base within this segment and continuing meeting the offshore segment’s demands.

“The expectations are that some large windmills will be built in Taiwan, and we have to come up with a strategy on how we can become a part of these assignments and expand further on the Asian market,” says Group Sales Director, Jeppe Sonne.
